About Keyword Research

A browser-based keyword research studio built on open and bring-your-own-key data sources. Look up search volumes, collect long-tail ideas, check whether interest in a topic is growing and find the questions people actually ask. Enter your own API keys in the left panel so lookups count against your own allowance.

Questions

Which API keys do I need to enter?

The studio supports two API keys in the left-hand configuration panel: a seodata.dev API key (free by email verification inside the studio, unlocking 50 volume lookups a day and 500 a month instead of the 20/day anonymous allowance) and a Bing Webmaster Tools API key (required for Bing weekly impression volumes, Bing related keyword ideas and My Site search query statistics).

Is it free?

Yes. Every data source has a free tier. Without a seodata.dev key you get 20 volume lookups a day; a free key raises that to 50 a day and 500 a month. Ideas, Trends and Questions use no volume lookups at all.

Where do my API keys go?

Keys stay in your browser. Your seodata.dev key is sent straight from your browser to seodata.dev. Bing does not allow direct browser requests, so your Bing key passes through a small proxy on this site that forwards it to Bing and never stores or logs it. Keys are kept for the current tab unless you tick “Remember key on this device”.

Why does Bing show smaller numbers?

Bing reports impressions on Bing only, which has a much smaller share of searches than Google. Use it for relative comparisons and trends rather than absolute demand.

Are Wikipedia pageviews search volume?

No. They measure interest in a topic, which makes them good for spotting growth, decline and seasonality. The country you choose picks the Wikipedia language.

How are synonym swaps chosen?

Datamuse suggests synonyms for each word and the tool only keeps a swap when Google autocomplete shows that people actually search for it. Some results still drift in meaning, so review them before you use them.
